Pop-up Exhibit at Navy Pier
I was very excited to be selected as one of the few artists in this exhibit. In collaboration with Navy Pier and the Palette and Chisel Academy, the Plein Air Painters of Chicago celebrating Chicago neighborhoods through paintings on location.
When you’re visiting Navy Pier, stop by the Art Now shop to view the paintings by the Plein-Air Painters of Chicago. Oils, pastels, mixed-media, and watercolors show the great diversity and vibrance of our fair city.
The exhibit will be on display until April 2019. I am one of the few watercolor artists at the exhibit and I’m excited to share this with you. Contact me if you’re heading down and I can try to meet you there.
What is Plein-air, you ask? It’s the art of painting outdoors, on location, and capturing the live scene. Some work is done in the studio after a day of painting to clean up an refine the artwork. It’s something new for me and last year was my first with the Plein air painters of Chicago. i am looking forward to 2019!
My Watercolor Painting
My watercolor painting “Out of this World 3′ is the 3rd painting I’ve done of the Fulton Market scene I had at the Plein-Air Painters year-end exhibit last year. Located in the historic West Loop, the Fulton Market District is one of the fastest growing neighborhoods in Chicago.
This painting is on Fulton Market and May street, where one of my favorite coffee shops is located. Jupiter Outpost has great food, coffee and friendly staff. Indicative of the West Loop.
